Powerful engine, DCT or manual transmissions to choose from, EPS on most models, great towing capacity.

Rubicon 4x4s come with DCT. The only outlier is the EPS model shown.

Verdict
The Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon is for just about any rider. Those looking for a fully automatic ride have three trims to choose from that are equipped with automatic DCT. If manual labor requires a manual transmission, there’s one option that fits the bill as well. Got a tough job? The powerful engine and large towing capacity on all models are ready.

Overview
Honda’s FourTrax Foreman Rubicon 4×4 comes in four different variations that equip DCT, EPS, or both, so riders seeking any level of assistance they desire out of a utility ATV are bound to find the right option in one of these Rubicons. All include a 518cc liquid-cooled engine, 2WD, 4WD, and locking differential 4WD drivetrain, independent rear suspension, and substantial towing capacity for work or play. Storage compartments sprinkled throughout and cargo racks at both ends increase the utility. Take the Rubicon all around the property, down the local trails, or just down the driveway; it’s a versatile machine for a bit of every type of riding.

Pricing and Which One to Buy
2023 Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon 4×4 DCT MSRP: $9,199
2023 Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon 4×4 EPS MSRP: $9,299–$9,799
2023 Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon 4×4 DCT EPS MSRP: $9,899
2023 Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon 4×4 DCT EPS Deluxe MSRP: $10,399
A lower price does not mean the FourTrax Foreman Rubicon is remiss of helpful features. Although it doesn’t have power steering, it does have the automatic DCT and is powered by the same 518cc engine, and has the same suspension, brakes, and towing capability.

Powertrain: Engine, Transmission, and Performance
A 518cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine is used in all FourTrax Foreman Rubicons. Its focus is low to midrange power to complement its towing capability. The EPS model is the only one with a foot-shift manual five-speed transmission and manual clutch. DCT models will have the automatic dual clutch transmission with five gears, plus reverse and high and low with an automatic clutch. The trio of DCT models can shift between fully automatic and manual paddle shifting and also have a manual-override capability.

Brakes
Hydraulic calipers grab onto a pair of 190mm discs up front and a pair of 170mm discs out back. Riders use two hand levers or a brake pedal to modulate stopping power. An easy-to-set parking brake is located on the left grip.

Electronics
Honda’s electronics package includes an LCD display that provides various information such as fuel level, gear position, speed, and other useful indicators. This display also has a service reminder function. There is an accessory socket to keep devices and other gear charged and an electric starter to make start-ups easy.

Ease of Maintenance
Checking or adding engine oil is done by removing a little door in order to access the dipstick and filler. The drain bolt is in a typical location under the ATV and is easily accessible through a hole in the underbelly covering. The oil filter is accessed by removing the seat and tank cover assembly and removing the oil filter cover.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Honda backs up its Rubicon 4x4s with a 12-month, limited factory warranty. Extensions are possible with a Honda Protection Plan.
